    Project description

The purpose of the project is to investigate interpreters’ problem sources by examining disfluency as a surface marker and indicator in their second language production in consecutive interpreting. Specifically, the project identifies 1) interpreters’ patterns of disfluency and problem sources, associations between problem sources and disfluency, as well as quality of interpreting performance, and 2) differences between Danish and Chinese interpreters regarding the patterns of disfluency, problem source, and quality of interpreting performance. By identifying the problem sources and their association with disfluency and quality, the project’s findings will have implications for development of strategies for efficient training of interpreters and effective problem-solving in on-site interpreting performance.
