As a chemist, I have always being curious about how cells work as miniature chemical reactors. My interest lies on lipid flippases, and how lipid transport by these proteins contributes to plant adaptation to the environment. My group has developed a whole toolbox to study the mechanism, regulation and physiological role of these transporters. The aim of my research is to understand the role of lipid flippases in plant adaptation to biotic and abiotic stress, and to apply this knowledge to the generation of crops resilient to environmental stresses to ensure future food production.
