Humanitarianism on Trial: Development and Decolonization


Andrew S. Thompson is Professor of Modern History at the University of Exeter. His most recent book is a volume of essays in the Studies of Imperialism series (published by MUP) entitled Writing imperial histories (Manchester, 2013). Other publications include an edited volume on Britain’s Experience of Empire in the Twentieth Century (Oxford, 2012), Empire and Globalisation: Networks of Peoples, Goods, and Capital in the British World, 1850-1915, co-authored with Gary Magee (Cambridge, 2010), and The Empire Strikes Back? The Impact of Imperialism on Britain from the Mid-Nineteenth Century (Harlow, 2005).
