Per Øhrgaard, b. 1944, Professor of Germanic Philology at the University of Copenhagen 1980-2003, Professor at Copenhagen Business School from 2003.
His doctoral dissertation 1978 on Wilhelm Meister and the large and dense monograph Goethe (1999) on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe are central to Per Øhrgaard's writing. Per Øhrgaard is also a translator, including Günter Grass. He was awarded the Henrik Steffens Prize in 2001. Per Øhrgaard has been a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters since 1991, and the Danish Academy since 2001 and has been on the board of the Carlsberg Foundation since 1993.
