La memoria del fascismo nella cultura Italiana

Fin dalla fondazione della Repubblica Italiana, la memoria del fascismo ha costituito un aspetto centrale dell’identità nazionale e del dibattito pubblico e politico. L’importanza di questa memoria è confermata anche dal gran numero di romanzi e film che sono stati dedicati al fascismo e che hanno cercato di confrontarsi con esso, di esorcizzarlo e di diffondere consapevolezza riguardo alla storia della dittatura. Ma quali sono state le tendenze nella rappresentazione del fascismo nella cultura italiana? E quale ruolo hanno avuto la letteratura e il cinema nel modellare la cultura del ricordo dell’Italia dal dopoguerra in poi? In questo incontro, a metà strada tra un seminario e un workshop interattivo, il Dott. Guido Bartolini presenterà e discuterà alcune delle concettualizzazioni che hanno dominato la memoria culturale italiana, analizzando alcune delle pratiche discorsive sviluppate dall’Italia repubblicana per immaginare e rappresentare il fascismo. L’evento avrà l’obiettivo di creare uno spazio per una riflessione collettiva sull’uso dei prodotti culturali come fonte per pensare il passato e di approfondire la conoscenza delle dinamiche che hanno segnato la memoria del fascismo nella cultura italiana.

The Memory of Fascism in Italian Culture

Lecture by Dr Guido Bertolini (Ghent University – Visiting fellow at SDU).

Since the founding of the Italian Republic, the memory of Fascism has been a central aspect of national identity and public and political debate. The importance of this memory is also reflected in the many novels and films dedicated to Fascism – works that have sought to engage with it, exorcise it, and raise awareness about the history of the dictatorship. But what have been the dominant trends in the representation of Fascism in Italian culture? And what role have literature and cinema played in shaping Italy’s memory culture from the postwar period onwards? In this event, situated halfway between a seminar and an interactive workshop, Dr Guido Bartolini will present and discuss some of the key conceptualisations that have dominated Italian cultural memory, analysing discursive practices developed in the Republican era to imagine and represent Fascism. The event aims to create a space for collective reflection on the use of cultural products as tools for thinking about the past, and to deepen our understanding of the dynamics that have shaped the memory of Fascism in Italian culture.
