PETER LEESE
Historical Trauma Studies: a New Agenda
Peter Leese is joined by Jason Crouthamel (Grand Valley State, USA), Ville Kivimaki (University of Tampere, Finland) and Julia Köhne (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) for a presentation of the current debates and future work of the Historical Trauma Studies Network (University of Copenhagen, since 2013). Recent critical themes include: the number and definition of the psychologically injured on battlefields and the home front; the influence of time, culture and locality on origins and symptomatology; the ways and extent to which trauma is a gendered experience; the public and private ‘uses’ of traumatic memory; silence and the body as non-linguistic archives of trauma.
