A discussion of Montgomery's strengths and weaknesses as a general and of his complex personality. Special attention is given to his role in the Liberation of Denmark in May 1945 and in his criticisim of the Danish defence efforts in the 1950s where Montgomery visited Denmark as deputy commander-in-chief of NATO.
