EDILIC Conference

On July 6th, we will be presenting a paper at the EDILIC Conference: Pluralistic approaches, plurilingual competences, language appropriations: the learner at the center of educational realities.

Our paper will focus on a model that has been developed in the project’s first phase operationalizing language awareness in the context of plurilingual education, and will discuss how the model can be used to analyse language curricula at the macro level (Beacco et al., 2016; Daryai-Hansen et al., 2015).

The analysis will focus on the preparatory three-months cross-curricular course in general language awareness in the beginning of Danish upper secondary education that aims to develop learners’ language awareness and to ensure a common basis for the language subjects (Andersen, 2004). How is language awareness conceptualized in this course, and how does this course take pluralistic approaches to languages and learners’ linguistic resources into account?
