The edited volume, Latinamerika Nu, written in Danish, examines a range of Latin American countries focusing on the developments in the 21st century where many countries have undergone great social, economic and democratic progress, which today is under pressure due to economic downturns, democratic backsliding and rising poverty and inequality that has further been exacerbated by the global Covid-19 pandemic. The book also traces historical developments and the impact of colonial history and social struggles related to armed conflicts, environmental issues, migration and gender inequality.

Latinamerika Nu is edited by Marie Kolling and Clement Kjersgaard. The volume contains an introduction and 12 chapters that each examine a country in the region and is written by Latin Americanist scholars:
