Abstract

Heterographics is presented as an aspect of textual, literary and translation theory that has been largely obscured. What happens when two scripts are used in one text, or when uncommon letters are introduced into a familiar alphabet? This essay advances Lock's earlier work directed against the phonetic presuppositions of translation theory.
