Wide-Angle Views: Future Directions in Retranslation Studies
ENGEROM’s translation research group welcomes Professor Emerita of English Outi Paloposki from the University of Turku to an afternoon discussion of Paloposki’s extensive research career.
Her work has delved into various aspects of translation studies, including archival research on translators’ and publishers’ correspondence, the development of Finnish translation culture through Swedish-Finnish exchanges in the early 19th century, and the evolution of the translating profession in Finland. This session will delve into these themes, with a particular focus on the future directions of retranslation studies, reflecting on how archival work and digital methods may offer valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between language, translation, and cultural exchange.
